Travel built around cafes/cafe culture ☕️ 🥐

We don’t ALWAYS book our travels around cafes we want to visit, but it does end up that way most of the time!

Cafe culture in Italy is elite! You either take your espresso at the bar and are on your way OR sit outside for hours with a cappuccino!

Beware, if you order a cappuccino after noon you will be judged in Italy, but we’ve still don’t it many times. 🤣

8 experiences in Italy that changed our brain chemistry 🇮🇹

We had the unique experience of staying in Italy for over a month and had some of the coolest experiences while there! Part of the draw to slow travel is being able to experience day to day life in a new country!

1. Daily runs became so much fun because we were running in front of major landmarks like the Colosseum! 🤩

2. We were walking through Rome when we realized the Pope was going to come out! We got a wave from Pope Francis!!

3. Every cooking class in Italy was absolutely amazing. No food will ever be the same for us. DM us if you want the exact cooking class we did and loved!

4. We became locals at our neighborhood cafe in Florence. 🤍

5. 📍 Spezierie Palazzo Vecchio in Florence has the best skin care EVER!

6. One of our favorite coffee experiences was having an espresso on Mt. Vesuvius!!

7. If you know Brian, you know he loves theme parks! 📍Garda Land was such a good one! 👏 We loved seeing how the Italians do it!

8. This sunset in Naples was the best we’ve ever seen! And yes, Naples is amazing despite what anyone says!

There’s no public transit to get up to Northern Montenegro + Durmitor National Park so you’ll have to rent a car, but it’s so worth it!

🤍 Swimming in the Blue Cave - Take a trip from Kotor to the blue cave! The water is UNREAL! 🤩

🤍 Float in the Bay - Rent a tube and float in the beautiful bay of Kotor! It sounds so simple, but it was one of our favorite things to do! You might even see some Dolphins!

🤍 Take a boat ride - We took a day cruise through the bay visiting Hercig Novi and other cities/ landmarks along the way!

🤍 Visit the Tara Bridge - Rent a car and drive a few hours north to the Tara Bridge and Canyon! This canyon is one of the deepest in Europe and so beautiful!

Instead of just taking the main steps from Old Town in Kotor, we explored part of the Ladder of Kotor—a winding, switchback trail that gives you a completely different perspective of the bay. It’s quieter, a little more rugged, and honestly felt like such a cool hidden experience.

On the way, we stopped at a little mountainside cheese shop café (yes, mid-hike 🧀) where you can sit, take a break, and try local cheeses with the most unreal view. It ended up being one of our favorite parts of the whole climb.

If you’re starting from Old Town, the main entrance to the fortress usually opens around 8am and has a small fee.

🤍 Definitely go early or later in the day—the heat and crowds can make this hike a lot tougher.

Getting there is part of the experience… hop on a short ferry ride from Marseille’s Old Port (Vieux-Port) and in about 20 minutes, you’ll arrive at this tiny island fortress surrounded by unreal blue water.

✨ Ferries run regularly, and tickets are typically around €10–€15 round trip (plus a small entrance fee).

Originally built in the 1500s, Château d’If was used as a prison and made famous by The Count of Monte Cristo. Walking through the cells (including the one said to belong to Edmond Dantès) was crazy!! 🙈

On the island, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful blue waters, and have the chance to have lunch or a drink looking out towards Marseille’s Old Port!

You have to experience this if you visit France!

This French Riviera city is even better than we imagined 🤩

When people think of Cannes, the think of celebrities, glitz and glam… but it’s a lot more than that!

We absolutely loved Strolling along the waterfront and stopping at a cafe to enjoy an espresso and ocean views! ☕️

We also loved taking the ferry to the Lérins Islands especially:

📍Île Sainte Marguerite

On the island you can stroll along the pristine nature paths, swim on one of the gorgeous beaches or visit the fort once housing the “Man in the Iron Mask”!

The water surrounding this island is DO clear and there weren’t many people! We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves!

If you’re visiting the French Riviera this summer don’t skip Cannes!

This French Riviera city is even better than we imagined 🤩

When people think of Cannes, the think of celebrities, glitz and glam… but it’s a lot more than that!

We absolutely loved Strolling along the waterfront and stopping at a cafe to enjoy an espresso and ocean views! ☕️

We also loved taking the ferry to the Lérins Islands especially:

📍Île Sainte Marguerite

On the island you can stroll along the pristine nature paths, swim on one of the gorgeous beaches or visit the fort once housing the “Man in the Iron Mask”!

The water surrounding this island is DO clear and there weren’t many people! We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves!

If you’re visiting the French Riviera this summer don’t skip Cannes!

Calanques National Park a few hours from Nice, France 🇫🇷

One of the most beautiful places in France!!

We spent a month in Antibes, living as locals and it made us fall in love with the French Riviera!

Personally I LOVE it!!!!

We were in the south of France for a month living above a hair salon! It made me want to chop my hair. 💇‍♀️

The craziest part is, my hair stylist didn’t even speak English! But, we were able to communicate through pictures and body language! It was such an amazing experience!!!

I’ve actually never had a short haircut I’ve loved so much! French stylists are just a cut above the rest! 😉

Next time you visit France, get your haircut! 💇‍♀️

Road trip hour 1 vs hour 10 is hilarious 😂

These are the 5 stages of any road trip!

We’re @brian.and.steph ! 👋 We just finished our 35 hour road trip from Arizona to New York and this is how it went. 😹

This is the longest road trip we’ve done, and it honestly was so much fun! We listened to 2 audio books, Steph knit a scarf and we just enjoyed each other’s company.

We also did it over the course of 5 days so the driving didn’t feel as long!

The best hike in Sedona, Arizona 🌵

📍Cathedral Rock

🥾 A 1 mile, difficult hike up to the viewpoint & Vortex

Is it worth it…. YES 🙌 Although this is one of the most trafficked hikes in Sedona, it definitely gives you the most bang for your buck. The views are unmatched, and you get a pretty unique hiking experience overall!

✨ You’ll need to purchase the red rock pass in advance or at the pay station in the parking lot! We recommend going early as the parking spots fill up. Also, during the weekends during peak season, this lot is closed and you’ll have to take a shuttle!

Unpopular Buc-ee’s review from two people who’ve never been 🙈

If you didn’t know, we’re currently driving cross-country from Arizona to NY because we’re moving! 👏

We were honestly so excited to stop here because we heard how crazy it was, but we were slightly underwhelmed!

Yes, it’s HUGE and there are a TON of gas pumps, but everything felt overpriced and gluttonous…. I guess we are in America. 🤷‍♀️

We wanted to get a sandwich, because we heard their bbq is amazing (for a gas station), but after reading the ingredients, we decided against it because we didn’t want to feel sick in the car.

✨ It’s a blessing a curse to be people who read ingredient labels. 😳

Anyways, we did think the little souvenirs were cute AND the bathrooms are some of the nicest we’ve seen!

All in all, you should definitely visit if you get a chance!
